What can I do in Lanzarote? Where can I surf in Lanzarote? I tell you which are the best beaches in the south of the island and where you can surf here:

The beaches of the south of Lanzarote are famous for their calm and crystal-clear waters, their coves of soft golden sand, and their sunshine almost all year round. But... Can you surf in the south of Lanzarote? This souvenir is proof that you can!

“Playa Mujeres, El Pozo, Playa de la Cera, Caleta del Congrio, Puerto Muelas or El Papagayo are some of the coves that make up the Papagayo beaches”

The Papagayo beaches are protected within the Natural Park of Los Ajaches. They are wild-looking and generally have calm waters, but that's not all, because you can also surf!

Although it is not usual, when there are storms from the south or west, there are waves mainly in the coves of La Cerita and El Congrio.

However, these waves are more for bodyboarding, as they are very close to the shore and, in some cases, a bit closed. But don't panic board riders, because Papagayo is not the only surf spot in the south.

“The fact that in Papagayo the beaches are fine sand makes them ideal to skimboard”

The wave at Castillo de las Coloradas, on Playa Blanca, has a drop-off next to the Marina Rubicon harbor breakwater that raises a perfect, progressive wave at low tide. Again, you need a storm or a lot of sea power, and getting in the lineup is quite complicated, but it's worthwhile.

Finally, I would like to highlight the Pechiguera lighthouse wave, a rocky, right-hand wave from the west.

My experience surfing the south beaches of Lanzarote

In my opinion, the waves in Papagayo are fun and not very dangerous and my favorite one is undoubtedly the castle wave, because of the way it rises softly and energetically at the same time.

And you, what do you think of these waves? Have you been able to surf any of them?

Now you know what to do in the south of Lanzarote, which beaches to visit and where you could surf. If you want to know other plans on the island, you can visit the blog guides.

So, with this magnet, I wanted to represent the less common, hard-to-find surfing in the south of Lanzarote, which makes it so special.
