La Santa is one of the best places in Lanzarote to enjoy surfing.
If you come on a trip and you are not sure what to do on the island, you definitely must try surfing. I'll tell you more here.
La Santa is a fishing village on the west coast of Lanzarote. In addition to its fishing, it is famous for its waves, and it is where you will find El Quemao, the best surf wave in Lanzarote, and one of the best in Europe. How could we not dedicate a magnet to it?
"One of the best resorts for elite sportsmen and women in the Canary Islands is in La Santa".
Here you will find the most consistent waves of Lanzarote thanks to its reef, they are present all year round, but it is between the months of September and May when you will be able to see the best lefts of El Quemao.
If you are an experienced surfer, it goes without saying that this is your place to be. It's a short and explosive wave, with a perfect tube over a sharp volcanic reef that is barely a metre deep, making it a dangerous wave. You'll need to be in very good physical and mental shape to tackle the vertical take-off and get into the tube quickly.
"The Quemao Class is one of the best surfing championships in Europe, and only invited surfers can participate".
It is the best wave in Lanzarote and for the last few years, it has been the venue for a championship with the best European surfers.
As it is a wave with a lot of localism, maybe you should start on the right side of the Santa. And if you are not yet at a good enough level, you can try the peaks in the centre on a day when there is not too much power.
My experience surfing in la Santa
Unfortunately, my level doesn't allow me to surf in La Santa yet, so I can't tell you about my experience in the sea, but I can tell you that attending the El Quemao Class championship on the beachfront is an experience that as a surf lover you can't miss out on.

"A very high and round wave, with a steep volcano as its reef, the colours of the sunset that you can enjoy there, and of course, in the shape of a surfboard".
