What can I do on my trip to Lanzarote? Cycling routes is one of the best ways to enjoy sport on the island of Lanzarote.
Touring Lanzarote on a bicycle is one of the best experiences you can have on the island.
This souvenir wants you to relive the incredible landscapes offered by the cycling route that starts at the Mirador del Río to reach Arrieta in the north of Lanzarote.
Above the Risco de Famara is the Mirador del Río, a creation of the local architect, César Manrique. A perfect place to observe the eighth Canary Island, La Graciosa, and the rest of the islets that make up the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park.
Cycling around Lanzarote...
Our cycling route starts at the Mirador del Río, in the village's direction of Arrieta. The descent starts with incredible views of the Corona volcano to the right, and a sea of black lava to the left, created by the volcano itself.
It is striking how the white sandy beaches of the Órzola coast contrast with the black lava and the turquoise blue sea and sky.
Take advantage of this initial smooth and quiet stretch to admire every detail of the landscape.
When you reach the junction of Haría, turn left towards Arrieta. The descent will lose sight of the Corona volcano and give way to beautiful views of the beaches of Órzola and Roque del Este, one of the rocks that make up the Chinijo Archipelago.
The Cueva de Los Verdes and the Jameos del Agua result from the eruptions of the Corona volcano. They are bubbles of air between the lava, full of stories of pirates and mystery. An interesting visit on your trip to Lanzarote.
Approximately one kilometer downhill after the crossroads, we find the slope of the Corona volcano on our right. We will cycle at its foot to admire the lava valley that formed the cave of Los Verdes and the Jameos del Agua on our left.
Once we leave the volcano behind us, we have a little more than half of the descent ahead of us to contemplate the entire coast of Los Jameos until we reach Arrieta. But don't get too enraptured by the sea, or you will miss the beautiful landscape of grape growing Gerias on your right.
On the last stretch of this cycling route, keep an eye on your right to see the north face of the Famara cliff and the Ermita de las Nieves observatory.
In short, if you are visiting Lanzarote on holiday and you are one of those who likes to take a bike to enjoy at your own pace, the Mirador del Rio area is a must-see. It is the best way to enjoy quality tourism and soak up Lanzarote's identity, so we had to create its souvenir.
My cycling experience in the north of Lanzarote
The first kilometers of the route are an intense and exciting descent full of incredible views. Keep your eyes peeled to not miss any detail of the surrounding scenery.
After the crossroads of Haría, the incline increases, but the incredible views of the sea and the Roque del Este will make you slow down to admire the breathtaking view.
From this point on, the incline increases even more until you reach the foot of the Corona volcano when you can let off the brakes and let your adrenaline run wild. You won't be able to stop pedaling at full speed until you reach the Arrieta crossroads.
